Bottom of the River

An ecological and poetical song by "The Tom Fun Orchestra"

Bottom of the River

We are all
at the bottom of the river
We stare up
at the leaves floating by
We sit down
at the bottom of the river
Waiting for
the changing tide

Time floats by
at the bottom of the river
Each sinking pebble
is an echoing tenor
There's stones in our pockets
& chains around our ankles
But you'll never see a tear
drop where the fish swim by

There's children throwing stones
into the river
There's retrievers fetching sticks
along the shore line
We've got seaweed for a pillow
at the bottom of the river
We've got pale blue skin
& bulging white eyes

Time floats by
at the bottom of the river
Each sinking pebble
is an echoing tenor
There's stones in our pockets
& chains around our ankles
But you'll never see a tear
drop where the fish swim by

[Chorus]
We are all
at the bottom of the river
We stare up
at the leaves floating by
We sit down
at the bottom of the river
Waiting for
the changing tide
